Why the Video Game Industry is Awesome

Just a quick shout here to let you all know that I'm not gone. I've been having some severe internet connectivity issues (read: NO internet) so I've been trying to make do with other setups. In any case, I thought I'd just throw out some coolness for the day to make everyone feel glad to be a gamer.

First up is Valve's recent release of new Left 4 Dead 2 content, which lets players play as the original survivors in an all new campaign. I haven't played it yet (no internet again) but what makes it so awesome is how Valve handled the release. On the PC, as usual, Valve releases it's DLC expansions for free, which is the way they roll and is pretty awesome for those of us who own the game on PC. On the X-box 360 however, Microsoft has this little rule about charging for all DLC content and set the price for this latest expansion (as with The Passing) at $7, something Valve has been against from the very beginning. Their response? Valve dropped the price of the entire game on PC down to $6.79. So, for twenty cents less on PC, players could get the entire game (all expansions included for free) for less then the price of one 360 DLC pack. Rock on Valve, we salute you!

Our other tidbit of awesome is a shout-out for Capcom's upcoming Marvel VS Capcom 3. If you haven't seen this game in action yet (or even worse, you've never heard of Marvel VS Capcom at all) then immediately drop what you're doing and take a look at it over on their main site. It's too awesome to pass up. I don't even know who some of these characters are (Dormammu?) but I still can't wait to have fun with this. Capcom, you are a living tribute to things awesome.

What have you seen lately that's awesome?
